I suppose the first post must take account of how easy it is to start a blog. Five minutes of half lazy, end of the day, ethernet chord not working effort and i am blogging. ME, right?
I also know that there are a very select few people reading this, mainly, Karola (and associated spouse) , Joe (and associated spouse), Martha (who is about to be dearly disappointed) and other people who i send this to. thanks anyways, i am a little worked up now from work, waking, adjusting and will make this short. Just know that all is well here, a little tired, a little attracted to a grad student (we must contend with these things) and a general feeling of being well liked.
Surprise messages: Martha: I am staying in Geneva and working in geneva, though this weekend coming is the alumni renunion. I will be able to spend at least one weekend on the real campus, afterwhich you can expect plenty of different posts and pictures
other surprising and potentially useful information: Professors at Cornell are impressive and surprisingly (as you will have surmised from "surprising messages") quirky and enjoyable. Grad students are the same. Scholars: as with all things, it is a mixed bag, but i have been listening to alot of people frown at the idea of composting and speaking quite animatedly about beer games> I should not be harsh, some of these people are wonderful, but I am afraid, simply, that they are in the other house. i mean i walked in to someone doing yoga, right?
Finally: a quote from a story
"I managed neither to cry nor become polish but simply, patiently remained on a bench next to my future husband, sho looked at me with the same gaze he might use on a stranger. He stood suddenly and began to dance on the pavement, waving his hands like a stone-age ballerina, speaking matter-of-factly about the day"
I promise to be more concise, it is a beautiful day and i must go swim in the lake
